Meditation Daily
Mt: 12: 15-19
Today, we reflect upon Our Lord Jesus Christ who fulfilled the prophecies of Isaiah about Him. Jesus retrieves himself from commotions to have a deep intuition and prayer, to empower Himself for the proclamation of God in Love and at the same time commands not to reveal him further. An event similar to this occurs in the desert. Jesus was taken to the top of the temple, where Satan provoked him to jump down the temple. The motive behind the test was to convince Jesus that when he attained name and fame through such a courageous act and then go for preaching Gospel, that might help more people receive Him. Jesus discerned the very act of gaining name and fame through physical skills and miracles, which would attract a number of people to serve and follow him, as a big trap of the devil. He overcame the temptation by the Word of God.

The word of the Lord says, “No one could come near me unless he is attracted by My Father”. It means the Heavenly Father is the one who sends people to Jesus. Most of the scholastics who tried hard to develop their own personal skills and talents hoping to receive applause and recognition from others have left or dropped out because they failed to recognize this temptation put forwarded by the Satan. The people who have been set apart to be with Lord, to preach the Gospel and to cast out demon often turn out to be selfish when they forget the purpose for which they have been called. Those who have no idea about their objective, can choose any path to move forward. If we are relying only on our skills and doing priestly ministry, it is good for nothing, just as the salt that lost its saltines. Let’s have a serious examination of conscience, whether we are concentrating on something else more than improving our own belongingness and relationship with God. Make sure that the time has been elapsed for me.
Another fact that mentioned about Jesus in the scripture is that, he never argued or raised his voice. It means the service to Lord doesn’t rest in winning over something with our emotion, anger and arguments, instead, it is in giving ourselves to the Lord, so that Jesus could act in us and through us in others.
Let’s pray
Merciful Lord, help us to discern myself whether am I a person lives relying upon my skills and abilities or a person who lives relying on Gods providence. Oh! Loving Lord, by receiving grace from you, enable me to keep myself away from name, fame and commotion. Give me the grace, so that, I may live surrendering myself to you. Amen
